The Tapestry is not just like every church
In a day and time when so many want to look just like the church next door, we have struggled to find our identity. From choosing our name in 2003, to starting in 2004, we are the original Tapestry Church. Come see what makes us different!
Churches smirtches, they all look...
exactly the same. If I have heard this once, I have heard it a thousand times. And it is not far from true. Yet in a day when everyone is trying to look like everyone else, we are ONLY attempting to find our unique identity. We know it may not be cool, but we are tired of apologizing and we aren't going to hide.
Today, I know churches that have found their identity by surfing enough websites to piece together their ideas and attributes.
We want to challenge this concept. When we started the Tapestry, we watched as churches took our concepts, our name, our words and our very ideas and built their own websites right off our heartbeat, yet missing some of the key ingredients of who we are.
Today, after more than 4 years of ministry here in this area, we are saying; go sacrifice and buy your own vision. This one is ours. This one is different.
If you want to try our life vision, or what makes us different, we dare you! We dare you to try and if you are out there and you are looking to find your own life mission, come join a group of believers who are willing to pay the price to explore, experiment and discover our abilities, gifts, passions, and callings. GOD is calling, HE is always at work and HE wants you to join HIM. Come join HIM with us! But first, read on to see why we are different.

the Difference: (A Kingdom Now Theology)
We have to ask ourselves a couple of questions at this point before we go on. This will help us to establish our identity firmly in our minds and will even give us boundaries and direction as we approach our strategies to accomplish the overall purposes of the church.
What makes us different from any other church in Rockville and the DC metro area?
Why does the area need us?
Here's what makes us different:
OUR UNIQUE ATTRIBUTES
1 - Intimacy (with GOD and each other. "Connecting People to GOD & each other." [We are intimate].
2 - Worship (Building a Temple for GOD individually and corporately by instilling a spirit of adoration in HIS people). [We demonstrate passion]
3 - Experiences with GOD (Interaction with our Father=GOD, our Lover=Jesus and our Teacher=the Holy Spirit which together as the Trinity are our LORD). [We are Supernatural]
4 - Power Encounters with the world (This is GOD by means of HIS intimate followers, becoming intimate with the world). [We are available for GOD's use]
5 - Radical Harmony (A marriage of the Spirit and the Word as a cultural lifestyle). [We are balanced]
6 - Doin' the Stuff (Whether healing or services, this is all done "...as unto the LORD..." Jesus Himself with HIS heart for others). [We are active]
This leaves us with a very simple theological creed that with the fuller foundational beliefs make us a doctrinally sound church. These are the theological points that together set us apart as a vital part of the DC church community. However, they do not stand alone apart from all of our foundational beliefs. Many churches have some or a few of these beliefs and core practices, however, we believe that our unique mix makes an important and needed part of the larger family of churches in our area.
